Chabad-Lubavitch International

Chabad-Lubavitch is a global movement, a philosophy, and an organization — and today, one of the most dynamic forces in Jewish life.

Philosophy

“Chabad” stands for Chachmah (wisdom), Binah (understanding), and Da’at (knowledge). These pillars of intellect guide a way of life rooted in self-refinement, divine purpose, and mindful connection with G‑d and others.

“Lubavitch,” named after a town in White Russia meaning “city of brotherly love,” reflects the heart of this movement — unconditional love and responsibility for every Jew.

Movement

Since its founding over 250 years ago, the Chabad-Lubavitch movement has spread across the world, lifting scholars and laypeople alike with wisdom, compassion, and joy. Today, its reach touches nearly every corner of the globe.

Leadership

Guided by the teachings of seven Rebbes, beginning with Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, Chabad has cultivated a rich spiritual legacy. In our time, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Rebbe, transformed the post-Holocaust Jewish world with hope, vision, and unstoppable love.

Organization

From a small nucleus in the 1940s, Chabad has grown into a global network of over 4,000 full-time emissary families operating more than 3,200 institutions worldwide. These emissaries bring Jewish life, education, and joy to every community they reach — including right here in Suffern.

We’re here for you — let’s connect, learn, and grow together.
